Virtual Production

Apple TV+ Masters of the Air

Dimension and DNEG Virtual Production were part of a team of studios providing virtual production for the epic aerial sequences of WWII bombing crews for AppleTV+’s series “Masters of the Air”.

The show’s cast were filmed in a B17 cockpit attached to motion rigs within an LED volume, displaying pre-rendered flying and battle scenes. This meant actors were immersed in the scene, had accurate sightlines, as well as interactive lighting.

The team is proud to have created all virtual environments in Unreal Engine for the air and ground LED sequences, including volumetric clouds, lighting and lookdev.
