Virtual Notting Hill Carnival

The best of Caribbean culture, beamed live around the world.

With a real-life festival impossible during the current global pandemic, Dimension broadcast the virtual Notting Hill Carnival: Access All Areas live from our XR stage using state-of-the-art LED screens and Dimension's virtual production pipeline.

Notting Hill Carnival: Access All Areas

Longest ever live XR broadcast

The three day long Notting Hill Carnival: Access all Areas, powered by Let’s GoDo, took one of the world’s largest annual arts events off the streets and online for its 54th edition, featuring 149 performances recorded in 18 countries.

An immersive virtual environment

Immersed in a life-like Notting Hill street built in Notch, presenters from Alexandra Burke to DJ Ace introduced performances curated and produced by Fixation.tv.

Spectacular production achievement

The XR studio by 80six Ltd on behalf of Dimension, featured ROE Visual Diamond LED panels and ROE Black Marble LED floor tiles, working with Disguise GX2c servers. Legendary music TV director Chris Cowey directed the show on the ground.

The result

This live XR production meant bringing one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant events to hundreds of thousands of homes during lockdown, with two streams highlighted by YouTube and Google Arts and Culture over August Bank Holiday weekend.

"We knew we had a responsibility to the Notting Hill Carnival community - to protect them, to provide a platform for artists around the world and to bring them authentic entertainment. Dimension helped us make that possible"

Matthew Phillip | Executive Director, Notting Hill Carnival
